Mr. Antony Hart, CD
Mr. Antony Hart is a philanthropist, humanitarian and visionary who is the epitome of a successful entrepreneur. He is the founder of the Hart Group of Companies and the first record manufacturing company in Jamaica, Records Limited. Mr. Hart is also credited for starting over 50 businesses spanning the electronics, automotive, commerce, construction, agriculture, and tourism industries. He is most noted for spearheading the Montego Bay Freeport Industrial Hub which unleashed the economic potential of the parish of St. James.
A graduate of Munro College, Mr. Hart is also the recipient of an honorary doctorate from the University of Technology, and has been awarded Jamaica’s fifth highest honour, the Commander of the Order of Distinction (CD) by the Government of Jamaica.
Mr. Hart has served on numerous corporate boards, service and civic organisations. He is the past Chairman of the Montego Freeport Limited, Apparel Handlers, Air Jamaica, Caymanas Track Limited, Samuel Hart and Son and Coconut Industry Board. He was the commodore for the Montego Bay Yacht Club. Mr. Hart is the past director of Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica Limited, Jamaica Development Bank, Sam Sharpe Teacher’s College, Seprod Limited, Harmonisation Limited and Victoria Mutual Building Society amongst others.
Currently, he is chairman of the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship, a director of the Victoria Mutual Building Society Money Transfer Services Limited, Caribbean Producers (Jamaica) Limited, Cargo Handlers Limited, Samuel Hart & Son and Port Handlers amongst others. He also spends his time assisting the St Mary’s Preparatory School in Montpelier, St James.
In 2013 he was inducted in the Private Sector of Jamaica (PSOJ) Hall of Fame for his pioneering and sustained contribution to the development of the business industry. Mr. Hart is married to Sheila Hart and together, they have 4 children Mark, Blaise, Bruce, and Wendy. He also enjoys a good game of poker and bridge.
